Milk and cookies numbers hide and seek makes learning numbers a whole lot sweeter! The Numbers 0-120 Hide & Seek Pocket Chart Cards | Milk and Cookies Theme is a hands-on math game your students will love, with chocolate chip cookie number cards and cups of milk hiding behind them.
Kids take turns calling out a number and peeking behind the cookie to see if the milk is hiding there. Every guess is more number practice, so the game blends foundational math skills with playful interaction that keeps kids coming back for more. It is easy to differentiate, too, from early preschool counting to first grade place value, so one game supports a wide range of skill levels and learning styles.

Why Teachers Love It
-
Kids stay engaged: Everyone watches closely to see which cookie is hiding the milk, so attention stays on the numbers.
-
You control the difficulty: Show a handful of numbers from 0-10 or fill the chart with numbers up to 120, so one game fits very different learners.
-
A routine kids learn fast: The steps stay the same every round, so children can focus on the numbers.
-
Works in many settings: Use it for circle time, small groups, math centers or a morning routine without changing much.
-
Built-in accountability: Recording pages add a number writing step without taking away the fun.
-
Confidence for every learner: Children feel successful as they start finding the hidden pictures on their own.
Skills Students Practice
Primary Academic Skills
-
Number recognition: Students identify and name numbers as they guess and check each cookie card.
-
Number order: Students see numbers in sequence on the chart and practice what comes before and after.
-
One more and one less: Children practice one more/one less and ten more/ten less as they talk about the numbers around each card.
-
Place value and patterns: Larger number ranges give children exposure to place value and numerical patterns.
-
Counting: Students count along the chart as they search for the hidden cups of milk.
-
Visual discrimination: Children notice the differences between numbers that look alike, such as 12 and 21 or 68 and 86.
-
Oral language: Students say each number out loud during their turn.
-
Number writing: The recording pages ask students to cross off guessed numbers and write the correct ones.
Secondary Life & Learning Skills
- Taking turns
- Remembering previous guesses
- Making and checking predictions
- Waiting during group play
- Maintaining attention
- Building confidence during group participation
How to Use It
Step 1: Choose a number range, such as 0-10, 0-20 or 0-120, based on your students' needs. Place the cookie number cards into a pocket chart, on a table or on the floor so all numbers are visible.
Step 2: Have one student hide 1 to 5 cups of milk behind the number cards while everyone else closes their eyes.
Step 3: Students take turns guessing which number is hiding a cup of milk, saying the number out loud each time. Peek behind the card to check the guess and keep going until every cup of milk is found. Optional: use the recording pages to cross off guessed numbers and write the correct numbers.
Easy Differentiation
Children build number skills at very different rates. Because you choose the numbers and how many to show, this game fits every learner.
For Children Who Need More Support
- Display just 3 to 5 numbers from 0-10 and hide 1 cup of milk
- Count the numbers together before hiding the cups of milk
- Point to each number as children say it
- Use the color cookie cards for extra visual support
For On-Level Practice
- Display a longer row of numbers (such as 0-20) and hide 2 or 3 cups of milk
- Use the recording pages to cross off guesses and write correct numbers
- Ask "What number comes next?" as you check each card
- Play with a partner or small group as a math center
For an Extra Challenge
- Fill the chart with higher numbers up to 120 and hide up to 5 cups of milk
- Show numbers that look alike next to each other, such as 13 and 31
- Have the hider give clues such as "It is one more than 45"
- Let a child lead the game and check each guess
For Speech, OT, ELL or Special Education Support
- Choose specific target numbers for each child's goals
- Use a short language frame such as "Is it behind number ___?"
- Have children point to a number to guess when naming is still emerging
- Use the black and white cookie cards to reduce visual clutter
- Give extra processing time before each guess
