Number Recognition

Recognizing numbers on sight is a big step for young mathematicians. These number recognition activities give preschool and kindergarten kids plenty of playful ways to name numbers and match them to quantities. Themed 1-20 number recognition mats show each number with a ten-frame (a two-row grid of ten boxes), an array and tally marks. Pocket chart hide and seek games keep the whole group guessing. Number card games add a little friendly competition.

With themes like dinosaurs, unicorns, pizza, snowmen and Valentine's Day, you can easily match your current unit. Start with a smaller set of numbers to simplify, then add more cards when kids are ready for a challenge.
