How to Use Number Mats with Ten-Frames:
Use play dough to create the number on the spring counting mats. You can also have the kids fill the numbers in using small objects mini erasers or glass gems. Another option is to use a dry erase marker. You can also use a dry erase marker to trace the numbers on the lines. Fill the ten-frame and the counting box with the correct number of objects.
How to Use Raindrop Counting Mats:
Using small blue objects such as pom poms or glass vase filler, show the correct number of “raindrops” above each umbrella.
Some tips for this spring counting activity:
To save on laminating, use a write and wipe pocket. Save on colored ink by printing the black and white Spring Number Mats or use the black and white mats for individual practice. Use dry erase markers or crayons to trace the number words at the bottom of sets 1 and 2. Students can build upon their skills by progressing through the levels or you can offer them all three sets as a way to keep them engaged in number work all spring!
