How Does it Work?

It's a race to see who can spy their image first with this fun I Spy board game.
Students are dealt an equal number of cards which lay face down on the table. For each round, kids flip their top card over at the same time and then search the I Spy board to find the picture on their I Spy card.
The winner takes the game token and the player with the most tokens at the end of the game is the winner.
Extend the play by making additional copies of the picture cards for longer game play.
The I Spy Board Game set is perfect for partner activities AND for small group activities, so you can choose what works best for your class and your students' needs.

Primary Skills:

Visual scanning and discrimination: Players strengthen their ability to scan and locate shapes in different colors, sizes, and orientations across the busy game boards.
Object and shape matching: Kids match their I Spy card to an identical or similar image on the board, developing attention to detail and critical thinking.

How to Play:

Print and prep the materials Print on cardstock and laminate the I Spy boards, image cards, and tokens. Cut apart the pieces.
Set up for 2–4 players Deal the I Spy cards evenly between players and stack them face down.
Flip and find Each player flips the top card from their pile. All players race to find their shape on the board.
Collect tokens The first player to find the correct shape wins a token card.
Continue playing Keep flipping and searching until all the I Spy cards have been used.
Celebrate the winner The player with the most tokens wins the game!

Additional Ways to Play:

Independent Play: Give one student a game board and the full stack of cards. They choose a card and use a mini eraser or game marker to cover the matching picture. Perfect for morning tubs, early finishers, or quiet time.
Parallel Play: Give two students their own identical game boards. Divide the image cards and let each student search their own board independently. A great option for students who struggle with shared spaces or competitive play.

Just what I needed!

I love the "Flip" activities. They're always colorful and engaging. These activities reinforce childrens use of language, labeling, identifying of vocabulary associated with specific themes. My students in the past have loved the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall flip, so when I wanted to update my beginning of the school year activities I happened to find the September themed one and knew I had to purchase it. I laminate my mats and have the kids cover the images with colored small or large game chips, vase jewels or playdough. If the images on the mats are too busyi make sure to uave extra copies for the kids to engage in matching the images. The kids love it!
