Because this packet is created for color recognition, most of the pages require color printing. To make the most of your ink, laminate the materials so they can be used by many children for many years. Some materials, such as the posters, can be used for several activities. Multi-use pages are not duplicated in order to save on file size, so you can print them more than once or use the pieces at different times.

Take a Closer Look

  • Color Posters/Write & Draw the Room: Display the posters or use them as oversized introductory flash cards. Place them around the room so children can move from poster to poster. Three levels are provided: Trace the Room (page 9), Write the Room (page 10) and Draw the Room (page 11), where children draw one picture from each poster using a matching crayon. A small number on each poster corresponds to the printables.
  • Color Sorting Mats: 7 pictures are provided for each color. Limit the number of mats or pictures to differentiate, or set it up as a file folder game.
  • Pattern Mats: 3 levels of color-based patterns are provided (AB, AABB and ABBA), plus a blank mat for children to create their own patterns. They use the pictures from the sorting mats.
  • Color Graphing: Children color spaces on the graph to show how many times they see each color.
  • Picture-Color Word Match Up Mats: Children draw a line to connect each color word to the matching picture.
  • Color Puzzles: Three-piece puzzles come in two levels, with words in the matching color for color recognition or in black for word recognition.
  • Color Match It!: Children match the color words to a picture. Color and black word versions are included, and you only need one to play.
  • Color Clip-Cards: Children use clothespins or paper clips to show the matching color.
  • Color Word Play Dough Mats: Children use matching play dough to "trace" the words, practice writing the words with a write & wipe marker and create pictures in the blank space.
  • Non-standard Measurement Mats: Children cut out a "crayon ruler" to measure the pictures and estimate to the closest number of crayons. A generic recording sheet is included.
  • Roll, Read, Color: Roll a die and color one space on the graph to match the word you roll. Keep going until one color reaches the top of the graph.

Why Teachers Love It

  • Made for little learners: Colorful pictures and just a few familiar words keep every activity within reach.
  • Math and literacy together: One pack covers sorting, patterns, graphing and measurement plus color word reading and writing.
  • Teacher pages for every activity: Each activity includes an instruction and suggestion page, so setup is simple.
  • Built to last: Laminate the color pages once and use them with many children for many years.
  • Gets kids moving: Write and draw the room lets children walk from poster to poster while they learn.
  • Print and go options: 25 print & go pages are ready when you need quick practice.
