How to Play:

 

  1. Set up the game: Each player places their marker on the "Start" star.
  2. Spin each spinner: Players spin all three spinners—beginning, vowel, and ending sounds.
  3. Build the word: Write the letters in the color-coded boxes on the included write & wipe board. Blend the sounds and write the full word below.
  4. Decide:
  • If it’s a real word (like "cat" or "hop")- move ahead 2 spaces
  • If it’s a nonsense word (like "teg" or "mog")- move ahead 1 space
Continue play until someone reaches the End star!
Students can record each word on their Real or Nonsense? sheet for extra decoding assessment!
