-
Flip and slap.
Players take turns flipping cards in clockwise order. When a card matches the current center card, players race to slap it first!
-
Collect and keep playing.
The first player to slap the correct match adds the played cards to their pile.
-
Finish the game.
Play continues until all cards are used or time is up. The player with the most cards wins!
Adapt or Differentiate
-
Start with the basics
Focus first on periods, question marks, and exclamation points. Add new punctuation symbols as students master the basics.
-
Use fewer formats
Play with just two formats to start, such as symbols and sentence examples, then add definitions or additional punctuation types later.
-
Focus on challenge areas
Use punctuation marks students struggle with most as your center cards to increase recognition through focused repetition.
-
Print extra copies
Duplicate the playing cards of familiar punctuation marks to create a full-sized deck without overwhelming beginners.
